About Our Chapter

WELCOME TO OUR WEB SITE. The Northwest Ohio Chapter was chartered on September 21, 1976 and is part of Region 3 of the national Association of Legal Administrators. Region 3 consists of 18 chapters located in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio and Wisconsin.

The Northwest Ohio Chapter meets the 2nd Wednesday of every month except (July and August) at luncheon meetings with speaker presentations on topics relevant to law firm administration.

The Northwest Chapter works closely with the Toledo Bar Association and has helped to develop a one year certificate program for the Legal Administrative Assistant. The course is designed for individuals who are interested in working in a legal environment. High school graduates, adults returning to the workforce or experienced office workers who wish to upgrade their skills are recruited for the program. Members of our association speak at various schools and answer questions about the program and serve on the Scholarship Advisory Committee. A $500 Scholarship is offered through the Toledo Bar Foundation for students interested in this certificate program.

The Northwest Ohio Chapter has been active in the ALA Community Challenge weekend to help make a difference in our community.

Members of the Northwest Ohio Chapter regularly write articles published in the Toledo Bar Association Newsletter. These articles can be viewed on this web site.

The Northwest Ohio Chapter endorses the mission statement of the national Association of Legal Administrators:

The mission of the Association of Legal Administrators (ALA) is to promote and enhance the competence and professionalism of legal administrators and all members of the management team. We do this by developing and delivering programs and products that will provide high-quality, competency-based education.
